How to Manage Joint Pain After Working Out
It’s no secret that working out is beneficial for your health. Exercising on a regular basis not only helps you maintain a healthy weight; it also boosts your mood and gives you more energy.
Exercising, however, can hurt your joints if you are not careful. Your joints can start to hurt so much that you can barely move them. Having sore joints all the time can even make you want to stop exercising.
Instead of stopping exercise altogether, you can try to just manage your sore joints.
Cooling down after a workout can really reduce joint stiffness. When you cool down, you just slow down a little bit after exercising. For example, you can move around slowly for five minutes to remove the lactic acid from your muscles.
After you finish exercising, apply an ice pack to your sore joints or sit in a hot tub. Some people respond better to heat while others respond to cold. Therefore, it’s important to use the method that works best for you. If using an ice pack doesn’t do it, try using heat the next day.
Getting a massage is a great way to soothe sore joints after a workout. A massage can improve circulation and help you relax. After a 30 minute massage, you will feel like new. If you don’t want to go to a massage parlor to get a massage, ask your significant other or friend to do it for you. If massage doesn’t take away the pain, try Bellevue chiropractic or check out Bellevue chiropractic review to see if an adjustment can help take away the pain.
After a grueling workout, try just gently stretching out your joints and muscles. For example, you can touch your toes or move your head around in a circle for a minute. Stretching for a few minutes can make your joints feel a lot better.
It’s sometimes best to just let your body rest after a grueling workout. Refraining from exercise for a day or two can help your sore joints heal. If you don’t want to stop exercising completely, you should at least decrease the intensity of your workouts.
Taking an over-the-counter pain reliever can help reduce the pain you feel in your joints. If you, however, need to take over-the-counter medications for more than a couple of days, you should speak to your doctor.
Following these tips can help relieve your aching joints and make you feel a lot better.
